OUR COMMUNITY

Lincoln Bowling Club is intent on being an integral part of the Community in which it is situated. We organise "Community Bowls" for 6 weeks each Summer for teams from Lincoln town, and surrounds, to play for fun and prizes. We are also involved in running, or supporting, various events designed for school aged children.

COMMUNITY BOWLS

Each Summer, starting in late January, people who are not members of the club, play Community Bowls. The players are formed into teams for a 6 week Competition. There are normally 32 teams to fill both Greens, 128 players in total.

Each Monday evening every team plays 2 games of 40 minutes each. The bar is open for drinks, and soft drinks, and light food is served at the end of the evening. A meat raffle is also held.

The draw is designed, so that over the competition, every team plays different opposition each week. A points system is used to keep a running total. Prizes are awarded for the top 3 teams each night and for the overall winners at the end of the competition.

Community Bowling started again at 6pm on Monday 17 January 2022 with 32 teams of 4 players enrolled. However, due Covid-19, play ceased for the year on 28 February 2022.

Congratulations to the top three teams overall when the competition was suspended:-

1. "Bowl Deep"
2. "Big Als"
3. "Springers"

BOWLS FOR SCHOOLS

In addition to the ‘Community Bowls’ programme for adults, we also take part in various activities aimed at local Schools

KORU GAMES

The club is an important part of the ‘Koru Games’ for schools organised by the Selwyn Sports Trust. Bowls Canterbury are the organisers of the bowling section, which takes place each year at Lincoln Bowling Club, (except 2020 & 2021).

BOWLS CANTERBURY

Bowls Canterbury also have various programmes for introducing school pupils to bowls. These events take place at venues throughout Canterbury and the artificial carpet green at Lincoln is very useful for such events. More information at the Youth menu item on the Bowls Canterbury website.

LOCAL SCHOOLS

The Club also provides a bowls experience for local schools. Some schools visit every year and other Lincoln schools are welcome to contact our Secretary via the About Us page.
