OUR COMMUNITY

Lincoln Bowling Club is intent on being an integral part of the Community in which it is situated. We organise "Community Bowls" for 6 weeks each Summer for teams from Lincoln town, and surrounds, to play for fun and prizes. We are also involved in running, or supporting, various events designed for school aged children.

COMMUNITY BOWLS

Each Summer, starting in late January, people who are not members of the club, play Community Bowls. The players are formed into teams for a 6 week Competition. There are normally 32 teams to fill both Greens, 128 players in total.

Each Monday evening every team plays 2 games of 45 minutes each. The bar is open for drinks, and soft drinks, and light food is served at the end of the evening. A meat raffle is also held.

The draw is designed, so that over the competition, every team plays different opposition each week. A points system is used to keep a running total. Prizes are awarded for the top 2 teams each night and for the overall winners at the end of the competition.

When Community Bowling started at 6pm on Monday 16 January 2023 with 32 teams of 4 players enrolled, it was completed without interruption on Monday, 6 Mar.
Congratulations went to all the participants and winners of each night's activity. The overall winners for 2023 were: Keep it Deep.

Several action pictures are taken and displayed in the Gallery on our web site. Also tell your friends to look at our View Greens page to see you playing live!

In 2025 due to the popularity of this event we had 32+ entries which required a re-think of how we handle the extra teams. After much discussion a system was devised that is fully described here.

BOWLS FOR SCHOOLS

In addition to the ‘Community Bowls’ programme for adults, we also take part in various activities aimed at local Schools

KORU GAMES

The club is an important part of the ‘Koru Games’ for schools organised by the Selwyn Sports Trust. Bowls Canterbury are the organisers of the bowling section, which takes place each year at Lincoln Bowling Club.

BOWLS CANTERBURY

Bowls Canterbury also have various programmes for introducing school pupils to bowls. These events take place at venues throughout Canterbury and the artificial carpet green at Lincoln is very useful for such events. More information at the Youth menu item on the Bowls Canterbury website.

LOCAL SCHOOLS

The Club also provides a bowls experience for local schools. Some schools visit every year and other Lincoln and Rolleston schools are welcome to contact our Secretary via the About Us page.
